1996 peterbuilt with a cummins n14 blowing oil

i wanted to see if any of you guys dealt with a n14 blowing oil out the exhaust. my brother has a truck that has this problem. he thought maybe it was the turbo so he took it off and it looks clean. he ran it with out the turbo and he can see oil blowing out the exhaust. he says its not blowing by the valves, and the cylinders looks clean. they had the head rebuilt and they rebuilt the bottom end about 30,000 miles ago. this engine has been giving them problems from the day they bought the truck. he called cummins and tried to pick their brain but they just said i dont know. any of you guys have any ideals to run past him? im in Ca and hes in Az so i cant get my hands on it

Ok, I'm having a problem understanding how the oil is coming out the exhaust but not blowing by the valves. Or are you trying to say it is not coming down the valve guides? You also say the engine has been giving problems from when they bought the truck, was that when new in 1996?

Pull the exhaust manifold and look for carbon build up in the exhaust ports, that will tell you what cylinder or cylinders are bad, then pull whichever head and look at the sleave. Sounds like broke rings which are usually a sign of a dusted engine. Check the air filters, we had a N 14 do the same thing basically and both filters were shot. Learned to not trust the filter minder!
