starting Im thinking, was the old starter bad? I learned a long time ago, to take the starter and alternator to a repair shop and get them checked out. A bunch of times, its just bushings, a small price to pay compared to a new one Next, one click and nothing. Is this the same starter? Im wondering if its jamming in the flywheel. Can you get a good set of jumper cables to the postive terminal on the battery and directly to the starter postive post? If so this will bypass any relays that may be in the system. You didnt say what engine you have, but some of these trucks has a relay/starter solenoid/breaker ??? between the battery and the starter, if this is bad it will do this. Check it out and see if you have this, it could be mounted on the firewall or in the battery box. Were is the click coming from? Get someone to keep trying to start and see if you can locate the click and if its a double post terminal, take a screwdriver and cross this and see what happens Could be a ignition switch, International are bad for this. Good Luck

"Loses all power"? please clarify, you mean the lights won't come on and the low air buzzer stops working? or the starter just can't turn the engine over?

thanks for the responses, the truck started today. i checked all the wires and cleaned the battery terminals and added one new battery. i just picked the truck up last week and its my first international flatbed. it has three 12 volt batteries. are they suppose to be running in parralel or series? thanks again

had a 96 4900 that would do the same thing occasionally and die while running down the road as well. Turned out to be the keyswitch.
