i have a d5g lgp sn# fdwoo776 schematic print RENR 5807-01 it will move foward and reverse with ni issues or stall as soon as i got to turn left or right it goes in fault mode i turn key off back on reset it will move foward and reverse but as soon as i try to turn it in foward or reverse it goes into fault mode i have pulled codes and SID E484 fmi 3 and SIDE482 fmi 3 codes are present i did notice that when trying to turn left or right the left track while trying to turn would go same direction as right track thus "unexpected movement " as the code discribes i raised machine off the ground and freed tracks from machine wieght and and moved tracks foward and reverse moved with out hesitation resonse was good then i turned left going foward left track stalled and didnt want to move then went in reverse left track responded and went in rev as right track went foward as should be then i shifted back foward and left track respoonded moving foward when turning right and reversed when turning left now that ive got everyone up to speed as to what im going thru any idea as to what might be causing the left track to not respond ive changed all the solenoids fwrd and rev on hydrastatic pump no codes present there... NO CODES ARE PRESENT WHEN TRACKS ARE OFF THE GROUND only when machine is rested on ground do i have issues with left track now could this be a failling motor drive do not want to just swap parts till resolved..ANY RESPONSE IS WELCOMED
My first question is what method are you using to pull those Codes, because I'm having trouble identifying them.? EDIT: Did you by any chance mean 1482 & 1484 rather than E482 & E484.? That would make more sense.
Actually thinking about it, 1484 would only make more sense if this tractor had a powershift transmission (which it doesn't) rather than being hydrostatic drive. Getting the correct Diagnostic Codes would seem to be key to solving this problem.
I USED DIESEL LAP TOP WITH JALTEST at the bootom of the photo in high lighted yellow icon in this photo it was inactive i repaired all the othere issues i am now down to three codes the 2 i refered to in post e484 e482 and im sorry its pid e484 fmi 3 pid e482 fmi 3 the third code is pid 1699 fmi 13 which is clibration of joy stick
sorry for the mis spelling im moving inserv truck but not driving
and the dozer is hydratatic the elect schematics are print number RENR 5807-01 its a 2002 d5g lpg
That's why I said the 1482/1484 Codes make no sense because they apply to a powershift transmission NOT to a hydrostatic. Your Diesel Laptop & the installed software is what's confusing the issue. The Codes it shows do not translate to Cat Diagnostic Codes very easily. I think, but not 100% sure, that both of the "Codes" that your Diesel laptop showed up refer to the left track speed sensor. Cat doesn't differentiate between movement in the FWD or REV directions, it's all the same Code - CID0154 FMI08 - abnormal frequency of the left track speed sensor signal. Attached the troubleshooting procedure.
That needs Cat ET to calibrate and the best part is that it is performed with the just the key on, the engine remains off. TBH if the position sensor under the FNR control is out of whack then it could easily cause problems in the track speeds between the LH & RH tracks. I would say the calibration needs doing with a satisfactory result before attempting to troubleshoot the left track speed sensor issue. Maybe the 1699-13 Code is the cause of the Diagnostic Codes for the LH track speed sensor.?
Why not try using the old-fashioned "bent bit of wire" procedure and pull the Blink Codes from the Diagnostic Indicator. The Harness Code plug (2) and the Indicator (4) are located right next to the 9-pin circular grey connector where you plug in your laptop. Post what the Blink Codes are and let's see where that takes us. I've got money on "251".
well im down for the challeng sir i will pull codes the old fashion way and lets see what pulls up and i believe you hit the nail on the head with calibration of the joy stick because that code is active it could be the reason for unexpected movement in left track thank so much for your time and knowledge tommorow morning i will follow the proceedure i recieved from you and hopefully it comes back as to what your thoughts are on this problem and i will post the results and continue this discussion tommorow thank you,
Mr Nige good afternoon i went thru proceedure and i found out i have to replace bulb in flashing code light it does not light up i put ohm meter and it is flashing codes but i have question when i raised tracks off ground and ran machine thru all the functions no code appaered nor did the ecm hystate symbol appear but the tracks functioned like there suppose to left turn /right turn foward reverse left/right turn no issues and i re scanned ecm for codes nothing appeared so im confussed about why i only have this issues when the wieght of the tractor is on tracks on the ground in air operation is fine and i found the codes cat d5g codes manuel ive attached photos as you can see it reads { e482 unexpected left track movement foward detected }{ e484 unexpected left track reverse movement} both with fmi 3 volatage above normal or shorted high just thought i would pick your brain on this ive never been stumped after 35 years of trouble shooting this one has me scratching my head lol
im repairing the code light indicator ive order replacement light and as soon as i install im running old fashion code reading to see if a 251 code appears im hoping your right heads getting sore from scratching it lol
I think (with the emphasis on think) that manual you have found is more directed at the skid-steer/tracked loader product line. On those machines it is possible to get Diagnostic Codes for unexpected speeds forward and/or reverse from the drive motor speed sensors. I ma still of the opinion that your Diesel laptop and the software are steering you wrong. This is the problem with aftermarket diagnostics as opposed to OEM. HOWEVER, when I look at the Component Identification (CID 0154) for the LH track speed sensor right the way through the entire Cat system the ONLY Failure Mode listed for CID0154 is FMI08 - abnormal frequency, pulse width, or period. That's the troubleshooting procedure I attached to Post #7 above.
im going thru the proceedure today ill update my findings and thank you i called cat and they agree with you that the codes i recieved from machines that i need to ignore the cid codes e482 e484 they dont apply to this model equipment and apply only the fmi code 3 open or shorted to high at left speed sensor and once verfied then do recalibration and they will come out once ive repaired the the open or short to high code at speed sensor thank you sir i appreciate your time and patience once again you have proved why your the top man on this forum
In view of where you are now I would suggest to confirm the Blink Code(s) first. Post them up then reassess the position regarding what to do.
yes will do i have recieved the new bulb well pig tail with light so yes im re pulling codes by this proceedure then post findings and go from there.. thank you again
good morning ok well at the present time its flashing the 222 code no present codes stored like i said it only activates code when i set dozer on the ground and apply the full wieght of the machine and try to turn left or right so were setting back down and re-run the proceedure
i set the machine down and tried to turn left and right it went in default stop all operation and checked it still flashing 222 code and i followed proceedure with jumpr no codes flashed i turned machine off and on and still flashes 222 no codes stored so im once again stumped but i can still pull the same codes with lap top scratching my head here
Disapointing that the Blink Codes showed nothing. I had high hopes of that. TBH I would suggest that your nest step whould be to get the calibration of the position sensor under the FNR control calibrated. You have already established that it needs doing, might as well do it now. ET has to be hooked up to do the calibration so while this is in process ask the tech to download a pdf version of the machine Product Status Report.
yes sir will do ?.. i noticed a leak a pretty steady leak on one of the stearing controll solenoids and when i apply fnr right or left it increases could that cause a delay and set code oh and you wouldnt happen to have the circuit schematic for the shut down of engine i noticed there using a power wire from bat to turn machine off starts from key but wont shut down from key thought i would ask i ohmed out the circuit and no power when shutting down the shut off solenoid is activated when key is turned off they stated it started doing that about a month ago
i started thinking maybe the leak is not allowing peak pressure and causing a delayed response on the left track its the lower solenoid sec stage rear of pump just a thought
How come that never got mentioned before.? It's also known for leaking solenoids to contaminate the wiring harness so open the electrical connector from the machine harness to the steering solenoid and check for the presence of oil in it. If there is oil in that connector you could be in for a big cleanup job. I would suggest fixing the leak before moving forwards, even before doing the FNR calibration. It's on the electrical schematic RENR5807 that you mentioned in your first post. You'd probably have to start at the shutdown solenoid and work back to the key switch.
im soory i just noticed it today i just so happen to be in the back doing test proceedure on speed sensor and noticed the leak reason why mentioned now
several hoses were replaced so the belly pan had a substantial amount of fluid traped but as mentioned i noticed the steady drip then when he went to turn it increased so i looked and saw where the fluid was coming from also the left speed sensor plug had fluid so yes i have some leaks to repair and start all over again with proceedure and the renr schematic i have is a blow up of the fnr circuit to ecm and directional solenoids 2 pages it does not have the engine side or that circuit from key and cabe something similar to what you sent it focused only on the area i was working on the rest of print is blurred out
That explains why it was never mentioned before.
The speed sensor will be leaking and should be replaced. There is an updated sensor that you might get consider installing in both sides, although it will require some additional parts because the wiring changes. Instead of installing plugging straight the sensor like now the machine harness connects to a fly lead on the sensor. Below are photos of the old (left) and new (right) sensors. To install the new 360-0453 Part Number of sensor requires 4 x 9X-3401 Deustch connector pins and 1 x 102-8804 Receptacle kit, plus of course a Deutsch pin crimp tool to install the pins on the 4 wires of the new sensor. Knowing what I have been able to find out to date about the sensors if they are leaking they will not work correctly. So do you have leaks in at least two places.? I’ll send you a complete version. Keep an eye on your messages.
yes sir so far is see 2, one at left speed sensor leaking thru connector , the othere is at the sec pump directioinal solenoid leaking between block and pump not out connectorbut where block bolts to pump that the solenoids stem scew into
