Getting code 1347-4, my question is after sitting the clear water separator bowl is empty, is that normal or should the check valve keep that fuel bowl fuel all the time?

What have you checked so far.? Anything regarding the fuel lines, the head of the fuel filter, or the fittings in the filter head for blockages.? Have you cleaned the inline washable screen that is part of the fuel transfer pump assembly.? It is part of #6 on the attachment.

I am going through the diagnostic procedure for the code now and haven't came across anything bad yet. I'm going to check the screen filter on the transfer pump next. I just noticed the empty water before I started diagnosing the issue and wasn't sure if that was normal or not.

I would suggest the following: - 1. Remove the inline filter from the electric pump and clean it in kerosene. It does not have to be replaced unless the mesh is damaged. 2. Remove the bowl and the element. Check that all O-Rings are in good condition and in their correct locations. Fit a new element if you have one available. 3. While the bowl is off disconnect all the fuel lines, remove the filter head from the machine, then remove all the screwed fittings (1, 2, & 3) from it. Blow through each fitting with compressed air to ensure they are clear. #3 is a check valve. Ensure that it is working correctly and is not sticking. Then blow through all the fuel passages in the filter head with compressed air. Reassemble then turn the key to ON but do not attempt to start the engine. The electric fuel transfer pump should run for approximately 30 seconds then stop. Does it.? What does the fuel level in the bowl look like.? If necessary run the pump for a second priming cycle. If your fuel tank is relatively low on fuel you could also try draining the water and sediment from it, or leave that for another time. There is a plug underneath the machine. All the contamination you find anywhere initially came from the tank so until you know that is clean the problem could always come back.

If you find any debris in your check valve, washable screen or fuel filter assembly, you will want to consider installing an in-line fuel filter between your fuel tank and fuel filter assembly. Here is an example of a basket style of screen that is popular with the HEF crowd: HeavyEquipmentForums The advantage of this type of in-line filter is that you can visually check it for debris and easily change it out.
