Just wondering what the thoughts on this size machine are? Seems like a nice size, it seems like every job we have been on this year the 8 Ton seems to be too small. I was thinking a 311 with a blade, thumb and 2 buckets would be a great replacement somewhere down the road. What dou you guys think? Anyone own one, run one?
Yup, got an '04 with a Cat thumb and pin grapper coupler. Good size machine for residental/light commercial work. Also have a 307, good size jump between the two of them. Just finished a new septic for a school with it. 6200 ln ft of Enviro septic in 2 - 46' x 100" beds.
I ran a 2006 311cu with a blade. I found it one of the most versitile machines I have run. I have done sewer lines with it 6 feet down and it has just enough reach to bed a 13' pipe. I have set manholes with it that weighed about 6,000lbs. It barely got it up but i got it in the hole without damage. The blade is nice for backfilling and grading. Another nice feature is that you can put the blade tight up to an obstruction and it still has enough room to spin around. It only overhangs the tracks on the sides about a 16". Some negatives: It doesnt have a tool box. Pumps are located where toolbox would go. IT didnt have the new lcd gagues that the newer 320's have. But overall its a very well balanced and a lil over powered machine.

um right now im waitting to go up to canada to go to work i got a meeting in sept. so for the moment i kinda part time a few places. padula excuvating out of gilford and clarmont paving, and my uncles drywall comp. with isnt really my thing. i used to work for LaMontange builders or (summit excuvating) and i ran their d8t till i got to work and the had sold it. last summer they where big like 50 guys and now thier down to 6. i got off the dozer and started doing house lots anf it was me and two foremens and i kinda got pushed out by the house lot foremen(kinda cut my neck and let the blood drain hahah) But i must have done ok cause i put some good amount of presser on a seasond vet. and im only 20. so do u have much work? alot of guys said thier dead in the water.
