Hey people...thoughts on Massey Ferguson 3366 dozer...looking at one about 1970 , good/bad point .. ...TIA
Hey! The Massey Ferguson 3366 dozer from around 1970 has its own set of good and bad points. Good Points : Historical Reliability : Back in its prime, the 3366 was a well - regarded machine. Many users found it to be quite capable for its size. Engine Options : Originally, it came with a Perkins 5.2L 4 - cyl diesel engine, which was known for its durability. In some regions like Brazil, it was common to find versions with Perkins 6 - cylinder engines. Also, there's potential to fit other engines like the MWM 6 - cylinder. If you can source a Perkins 6 - 354, it's an excellent, fuel - efficient engine option, though you might need to adjust the power output slightly if it's a bit too much for your needs. Parts Availability in Some Areas : In certain locations, like Brazil, parts for engines like the Perkins 6 - cylinder are relatively easy to come by. If you're lucky, you might also find some parts for the overall machine in areas where there was a significant population of these dozers in use. Bad Points : Age - related Wear : Given that it's from around 1970, it's likely to have a lot of wear and tear. Seals, gaskets, and other components may be dried out, brittle, or otherwise deteriorated. Limited Parts Availability : Generally, parts for the 3366 are not as readily available as those for more modern or more common dozer models. This can make repairs and maintenance challenging and costly. You may have to search far and wide, and in some cases, get creative with sourcing parts or even consider fabricating custom parts. Hydraulic and Steering Issues : Some owners have reported problems with the hydraulic system and steering. For example, there are cases where the steering clutch fails to open when the oil gets hot. This could be due to worn - out components or incorrect oil usage. Using the wrong type or viscosity of oil can lead to various issues in the hydraulic system, which is shared by components like the torque converter, steering control, and pistons. Lack of Modern Features : It lacks the modern conveniences and safety features that are standard on newer dozers. There's no advanced operator comfort systems, and safety features like modern ROPS (Roll - Over Protective Structure) may not be as developed as current standards. Overall, if you're considering a 1970 Massey Ferguson 3366 dozer, be prepared for a potentially challenging restoration or maintenance project, but it can be rewarding if you're up for the task and can source the necessary parts. TIA! Are there any common issues or maintenance requirements for the Massey Ferguson 3366 dozer? How does the fuel efficiency of the Massey Ferguson 3366 dozer compare to other dozers of its time? Can the Massey Ferguson 3366 dozer be easily upgraded or modified for modern applications?
Phil Hunt Parts will be your best source of spares. Generally,** Industrial parts are very hard to get. steeringclutch.com might sell steer/brake parts.
I am still have some 3366 MASSÉ FERGUSON used parts
The Double 3 66 was always called the Trouble 3 - 66,a nice item in its Day, in the U.K. I have not seen one for over 30 years, scarce to find about now.

This is a bunch of AI generated ****. Whether or not the poster is a real human this kind of stuff doesn't belong here.
Parts will be the biggest issue. Engine is a Perkins A4-300 but an A4-318 is listed for a forestry 3366. Would have to look for a tag on the engine or the serial number. I think the 3366 was replaced by the MF300. As mentioned were good machines in their day. They came in dozer and loader versions.
Thanks mate...will keep that in mind...hopefully all good for a few hrs atleast
