hy gents Trying to figure out how to install a air conditioner in my Tractor.... but run into questions... Anyone can tell me if there is machines with the condenser in the back of radiator , and why were they fit with after cab units? If i install one system with the condenser in the back of radiator what sort of problems will we face? anyone with a H machine with A/C that can share some pictures?

This is what I have come across when searching for A/C for a D6H. I would imagine it would be the same or something similar to a D5H.

No. Standard OEM condenser mounting for 1DD machines with S/N above 5500 is on top of the cab - fixed to the ROPS. Earlier machines had the condenser mounted on the back of the radiator.

And u happen to read any paper on why they changed that? certainly there must be a good reason reason

I have no information regarding D5H, but experience with other machine models where the A/C condenser was mounted on the back side of the radiator was uniformly bad. The condensers tended to block with dust very easily and also suffered premature failure due to sand-blasting as all the dust from the engine compartment passed through the core.

That sounds a reasonably good explanation! Thanks

I think that illustration must be an afternmarket system. All OEM variants of D6N A/C systems that I can find show a ROPS-mounted condenser. Your problem is that the radiator assembly on your late-model 1DD-prefix machine is different to the earlier models. On those models the condenser was an integral part of the radiator assembly. See the illustations below. There are two condenser cores #11 on machines with S/N up to 3999 and one core #24 on machines with S/N from 4000-5500.

I see, that is why i was not finding anything about ... Could u check out how was it in the 6´s? seen a few with rad mounted consensers... but couldn´t find it as well. As i have to adapt the system any consenser core i can fit in rad will work, u have any sugestion? thanks

Mquinista, not on Cat machine but I recently moved a condenser from rad group to up on top of cab with electric fan, works so much better there. Easier to clean both systems and the roof condenser drops it's dust as it's laying flat up there. That would be my suggestion, unless there's a reason for not being able to?

Same answer as per the D5H. Early machines had the condenser mounted as an integral part of the radiator. Later mounted on the cab roof or ROPS.

This being a old piece of iron, at least in my planet i could not find any aftermarket solution to install an A/C system in this machine. So decided to adapt one, even the evaporator aftermaket core is getting hard to get, not to mention really expensive, for just a evap core. It would be easyer to do if i could get OEM alike parts. I´ll post pictures after, BTW having the consenser in coolant radiator makes it much easyer, and thing is in my planet one got to clean radiators once a year, summer tends to get really hot and operating temps work on the edge.
