Would appreciate some in-put from some of the older guys who have some real knowledge of these tractors, I am looking at buying one has 6250 hrs is apparently 90 H.P from original owner ,looks sweet, but haven't inspected to date, any thig to look out for or are these what looks to me to be good-Ol girl units. thanks for any and all replys as normal.:cool2
We had a 4480 which is 125hp. Chamberlain were owned by John Deere by that stage so they all had JD motors. Good honest ploughing tractors, a little clunky to use as a utility tractor, slow hydraulics. Should be able to get most parts through JD. The 4480s were popular with cane farmers as haul out tractors because of their relatively high travel speed. Cheers, Greg
Thaks for the reply Greg, im looking for a tractor to replace my te-20 for slashing, the problem with the old ferg is clutch out blade engagement and no slow forward slashing, with her out in first gear you have no low speed variation, plus 1st is pretty high geared on the old fergy.
Yeah, the 4080 mightn't mix it with a modern tractor but it will be streets ahead of your trusty old TE 20. They had one of the most luxurious cabs in the market, back in the day when very few manufacturers offered them as standard. Have you had a look at the tractor yet? Cheers, Greg

Greg, go on E-Bay 4080 tractor, nice yellow one, what you think looks pretty clean and straight.Garrie.
Certainly looks OK for a 30+ year old tractor. Price is right, could be worth a look. Just check that it has TPL, can't tell from the photo, quite a few were drawbar only. Cheers, Greg
Greg, owner contacted and said No TPL,so that's that
bugger
Garrie ,I think you can fit a 3PL to them fairly easily. My mate John at Gin Gin just fitted 3PL to an older Chamberlain . It would be worth a Phone call to John to see what he can tell you .
Hi Ian, would that be John as in Goggi ? Garrie.
I will See what he Knows about it for you Mate . I know the one he just put on his tractor uses an external ram to work it .
not as flash but got 3PL. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1971-Cha...2508?pt=AU_HeavyMachinery&hash=item232bbc65ec john said should be able to pick up a 3PLset up from the wreckers , around 1500 to 2500.
My first paying job was ploughing with a Champion 306. It was 1973, I was 11years old, the job payed $5 a day and I was happy as a pig in s***. One of these would still be a step up from the TE20, make sure it has power steering though. Should be able to find one closer than Vic. I agree with Ian, should be no trouble to find and fit a linkage kit, even new. Cheers,Greg
