Trying to remove the cylinder pin on the stabilizer to rebuild the cylinder . It has the retaining clips on the outside, but after removing them, pin doesn't punch out. Can't see any other pins holding it in like on the lift cylinders. Anyone done this before? Thanks, Jeff
Another pic..
" There's a grease zerk there sez I, and a lonelier waif I niver laid eyes on lads, she's nae felt the loving embrace of the coupler I vow. Sure an fer certain thet pin be rusted solid in the bore, gawd 'elp us." Might have to blow it out with the thermic lance.
You can take your chances with a hammer, but if it mushrooms you'll have to file it down to get it out. Best would be a tie rod press setup, so you're pushing the pin with a hydraulic jack that has a frame set up supporting the "ear" on the other side that is being pressed against by the pin. If the ear bends then the pin binds, lovingly greased or not.
This is just a day in the life of a equipment tech. Wash it up, put some heat to the bosses and rod end without heating the pin too much. Getting as much slack out of the stab so your hit with the 20 lb sledge making good center contact with the pin. Trying not to mushroom the end of the pin on both sides before it moves the slightest bit. This is very common dealing with the rod ends on stab cylinders. Big hammer, heat, torch, slice rod, cutoff wheel. Always wear your safety glasses, have your fire plan ready and don't pick the pin up with your hand after it's out until cool. You will need to look at the glands good when ordering parts, some glands have been changed and the seal kits (mostly the wiper seals won't fit) it can be a real pain getting the correct kit.
set the foot pat on solid surface get the wieght off pin . worn grooves on pin catching bushing?. cut off whats sticking out and go the other way ? looks like the left side got bent out so your bore thru is off and pin hangin up / could be the groove of the retiner clip even catching cut that off too order new pin and clip now where the rod is set in the center looks awful tight cant even get a cut off wheel in there that **** took a hard hit at one point bet bthe pin is bent and or badly worn inside
Thanks for the replies. The pic angle makes it appear to be bent but doesn't look so.
Finally got it out with enough hammering. Just wanted to make sure there wasn't something else holding it in like on the on the other cylinders. Thanks for replies.
