Hi everyone new here but not to equipment bought a 575e from a estate sale has 3100 hours been sitting a lot since 2010 last major maintenance was 2008 at 2400 hours the last owner bought it in 18 and died in 19 then I bought from the son he has changed the 2 batteries and the starter and the fuel pump but still turned over slowly then speeds up and starts I’m thinking battery cables there clamped down and bit corroded he has the positive straight to the starter and ground also straight but also has the braided cable grounded to the frame this seems unnecessary thought the starter would be grounded through the engine don’t know why would need 2 ground The 4x4 never worked he said so did get the unit at pretty good price and turned out to be the solenoid had a blown fuse changed it tried switch blew again unplug the solenoid fuse didn’t blow so ordered a new one our local dealer only wanted 910.00 plus tax so ordered it of eBay for 60 usd Thanks for all the help greatly appreciated
Welcome to HEF! Slow starting is most likely cables. Mine is single battery being a southern tractor. I bought 2/0 welding cable and had ends crimped on at an Interstate battery store. The studs at the starter are 5/16" eyelets. The other ends on mine are now 3/8" eyelets but stock was regular car type ends. I eliminated the negative cable cutoff on mine and went to a group 31 battery with stud connections. I also ran both positive and negative cables direct to the starter. Mine has 3 grounds. This is needed because the engine and cab are rubber mounted. I connected the braided ground to the same lug on the starter with the battery ground and the other end to the frame. The cab ground on mine connects from the firewall to one of the starter bolts. That one is a pain and could connect to the engine or frame as long as it gets grounded.
thanks for the reply thats what i had planed but was going to use the one cable for other ground cables if was overkill but they will stay there and install new ends to bolt on changed the starter on my old ford 555xl few times dont remember the ground cables but was years ago and got old since then
is there adjustment for brakes they are up high only about half inch travel they stop fine but dont know if this is normal
Several members have had similar problems with the battery cables on their New Holland tractors, as NH575E said. As for the brakes, the condition you describe sounds normal. From the manual: "The foot brakes do not require adjustment other than an oil change every 2 years, or before if the oil is low or a leak has occurred. Check the brake cylinders for signs of leakage. Ensure the oil level in the brake reservoir is checked periodically."
You have BRAKES? Lucky stiff!
Thanks for the info guys I’ll check into it Just trying to figure out this puzzle
