I've called a few different places for Axle oil additive that the manual says is necessary in the Rear Axle, but doesn't provide the specific type. Three different places gave me three different products with three different prices from $20-$80 CAD. Any advice would be appreciated. Here are the three recommendations: TUTELA AXLE OIL ADDITIVE PINT Part #: 402982A2 HTO ANTIWEAR ADDITIVE QUART Part #: B17508 Case IH: OIL Part Number 87304782
The first one listed #402982A1 is what you want. One bottle of additive along with what was Case Hytan Ultra - which I believe they are now calling Universal Transmission Oil ..... or maybe just Hytran ........give me strength.....
The manual for my 580M specifies Hytran only. Should I be using this additive?
Hytrans did not have this additive from the factory, then it changed to Hytrans + and it did not have the additive in it, then it changed to Hytrans Ultra it was suppose to be in it and no need to use the additive, that said we always put 1 bottle of Part #: 402982A2 in rear axle.
Oh yeah almost forgot they also have Hytrans SSL which is good to -40 Degrees. Good for the Canadian winters out west and up north, here in Ontario not much use as we rarely hit -15 or -20 for more than a few days.
