hello everyone my 580e got stuck next to a flooded creak yesterday . the water got up to a little more than halfway up the rear wheel. its been in the water overnight in below freezing temperatures and now the water is receded enough that i can get to it. what if anything should i check for water damage? how would i check if water got into anything that could be damaged? i'd really appreciate any advice or thoughts anyone has:usa. thanks guys aaron
I would check transaxle fluid, eng. oil, hydraulic oil and power shuttle. Let machine sit overnight. Remove each drain plug slowly (water will settle to the bottom if there was any that got in). If there is no water present replace the plug and top off fluid level. If water is found drain and replace fluid and filter. I would also check and repack the wheel bearings.
thanks CMSMOKE ! i had some water in the transaxle and changed the oil. there was a ton of water in the wheel hub and the bearings and cup were rusty and pitted, i think it may have had water in it for some time. the hydraulic fluid i think has some water in it, the fluid is just a little milky in color. i did some searching on this forum and found Polymeric filters can be used in place of the normal inline filter to absorb water but i can't find any online dealers that sell these things. any of you guys know where i could order a couple of these filters? i wanted to rent a portable cart but the closest rental is over 3 hr drive and they only rent by the month. thanks for all the help guys! regards aaron
