never done this , worked on gas moters rebuild ect but no diesel moters is this hard to do
Welcome to HEF, Frank ! It isn't hard to do at all - if you follow the procedure outlined in the service manual. If you don't and get the timing off it can be a nightmare. Do you have the service manual ? Here is an example of what is in the manual.
Hi Frank, Welcome.!! As u can see in step 4, your going to need a puller to pop off the drive gear from the inj. pump shaft.. find 1 BEFORE you start the process.. Good luck.. BTW> WHY r u pulling the pump.?
thanks for the imfo. i have a service manual so i should be ok pump is leaking bad got rebuilt pump yesterday now need time to work on it thanks again
The drive is keyed.?? Ya can’t mess it up.. As long as the key engages the slot in the gear, your good ta go.. I like to use a smidge of BLUE Locktite on the dr. shaft threads.. IDK if u have a torque wrench but would u please post the torque value.. Some manuals have the wrong torque value.!! OR.. u can do like the rest of the world n tighten the dog **** out of it & call it done.. there’s nothing wrong with THAT, IF it’s your machine.. Good luck..
43.5 ft.lbs. to 71 ft. lbs. is what I obtained on a conversion calculator. I'm not responsible for errors. It would be best if thepumpguy verified those values !!!! As always click on the image to enlarge it.
