Im tearing into a 79 JD 410 engine that is dumping coolant into the oil. This is probably a silly question, but in order to turn over the engine by wrench, it looks like the radiator has to come off and then disconnect the hydro pump to access crank pulley. Is this correct or am I missing something? I wasn't expecting to remove all of that in front of the engine. Thanks, Blake
There may be a hole in the back plate of the engine to insert a small geared pin to turn the flywheel (maybe I'm thinking of a different engine?) or you can remove the starter and pry with a long screwdriver, or you can grab the fan belt with one hand and the fan with the other hand and turn both at the same time, the engine will turn easily a tiny bit at a time.
