have rebuild a few cylinders have the gland removal tool, but thats not moving it. just figure would ask here for other techniques. my next step will be to make a took and weld it on the gland, use a sludge. lot of work. and the bucket cylinder does not have an end so need to do it in the machine.
Look up the peening technique and that will work. You use a hammer and peen up and down on the cylinder over the gland threads. Never fails.
You might have to use some heat if the hammer doesn't work.
My old 680 has some set screws in them. If you have to heat it up set things up so the piston is not close to the gland. That cost me some money on a New Holland.
Lots of heat! A rosebud torch if possible.
I made a tool 3 pins, 6ft lever and used the tractor to try and loosen the gland. no luck. I was thinking of drilling a hole near the edge of the gland and use penetrating oil for a few days. i have tried heat but has never worked for me.
Read this thread - re the peening method. Wise Ol' @willie59 (aka atcoequip) has helped many with this advice! I used to heat the cylinders too, never done it since reading this advice & a cylinder has never beaten me since! That thread is 16yrs old!
