Have a leaking hydraulic pump on a 580k phase 3. Looks like its coming from the shaft, been leaking for 2 years but now has gotten bad. Going to pull the pump change the seal, hoping the seal will fix it. got about 10000 hours on it. Or should I just get a new pump? Plane to change the front motor mounts, any words of wisdom? On the pump unbolt the flange on the pump or the ones on the frame to get it out??
When you remove the seal from your pump, look at the shaft where the seal lip rides. If it is grooved I would go ahead and replace the pump with that many hours.
Changing the engine mounts is a fairly simple operation. There is no need to disturb the pump mount to frame bolts other than check them for tightness. Highly recommend you do that. A loose front engine mount will destroy the hydraulic pump input shaft. Unbolt the pump from the front engine mount.
looked at the diagram of the pump, the bushings stop the oil, not the seal. manual suggests replacing the pump at that point. Now where to get a cheap pump....
#2 & 16 are probably all you need.
