Working on a 580m and the original problem was no power and won't idle .changed fuel filter and drained tank ran with new fuel and still the same .Changed lift pump now it revs up better but idle drops way off and stalls. ADJUSTED IDLE SCREW WAY UP now can get to idle better but why did we have to turn the SCREW WAY UP
Sounds like you still have a fuel issue, and turning up the idle is only masking your real issue. A inline fuel filter was a option. Check if one is installed, and replace. Blow back in the suction line to the tank (remove the fuel cap first, as to not over pressurize the tank) Lift pump pressure should be 5-7psi, install a gauge to verify this. The fuel shut off solenoid may be sticking partially. Is the injection pump leaking fuel? Excessive white smoke?
No inline filter . We disconnected fuel line and ran a new line into a jug and ran machine and it didn't change.
No fuel leaks or white smoke
That lift pump should be pumping 25 psi.. Check the overflow valve.. its the banjo bolt on the return side on the injection pump.. Remove it & check to see if the spring is broken.. DO NOT remove the little nut on top.. it has tiny shims on it & when you take it off, the shims fall out & its worthless.. & its a 100.00 mistake. Just shake it & listen or poke the bottom w/ a scribe.. it should have pretty good pressure on it.. It opens at 25psi.. You can remove the side cover on the inj. pump & run/operate the control rack by hand.. just to make sure it isn't sticking.. On the back of the governor, the top screw is the "idle" screw & the lower one is the buffer screw.. it keeps the motor/pump from surging.. The correct adj. is run the idle screw in until desired rpm is achieved.. back out 50 rpms & run buffer screw in until desired rpms are achieved..
Welcome to HEF @Kgh65 ! Is there a possibility one of your control levers is stuck, causing the hydraulic pump to be under load & stalling the engine? The short AUX control lever at the BH control tower has a small swing around latch to hold the lever in the 'ON' position .... just a thought.... Any controls work electrically? Auxiliary lines to a tilt or rockbreaker?
Okay took return line off . and unscrew the fitting can shake it and it rattles around inside it .this is a Bosch pump on this machine . Bracket is in the way to remove the shut off solenoid
WELL.. there ya go.. overflow valve is broken.. get the Bosch 10 digit # & call the fuel shop..
So the valve in there shouldn't be floating around
Covered in post #5, from your report valve spring is broke.
Okay we just changed the over flow valve and machine still don't have any power. We still had to turn up the idle srew to get it to idle some what . not sure what to do now .
Gotta put a pressure gauge in the inlet line.. its the only way to find a pressure problem.. There might be a tap at the filter housing?? I use a banjo bolt w/ the top tapped out to accept a gauge.
