580se steering

some times the steering seems to go out i can stop and take off again and it will turn ok. would like some advice on what to check first. thanks!

    Not sure what "seems to go out" means. Steering wheel goes hard to turn? Turns easily with no response from front wheels? .........

    Problem is most likley at the cylinders, piston seal even on one bypassing oil pressure will cause this - reseal them both & all should be OK

    I concur, one piston seal on my 580D looked like a ragged rubber band. The kits are pretty easy with the gland seal being a bit fiddley. Label the hoses as they are removed. I had the tires turning opposite at one point. :Banghead
