Hello fellas i am rebuilding the engine for a 70ci fiat and have 2 parts i cant find the location for. One is a black sleeve about 30 mm or 1 1/4 long with a hole through about 10 mm aprox and is about 1 in diameter. The other is the same diameter but is stepped and is only about 1/2 in thick and has the same size hole in it. Thanks . Will try to get someone to put pictures on . First time to post anything but love reading all the comments Billyboy

Welcome to HEF Billyboy, We used to own an AT7C but Iam afraid I can't help with your question yet, some pics would help. Try posting them on this thread and one of these boys might pick it up, although they haven't been active for a while. HeavyEquipmentForums Did the parts come in a kit or are they left overs from the rebuild?

fiat 70ci dozer Hello there fellow Queenslander thanks for your reply. The parts are left over from the build . I have a shed full of bits from all types of gear and the parts were in the parts box. The engine has been fitted and is running fine but the two spacers or dowels must come from in the sump area as they look like they have always been in oil. After going through the parts book literally with a magnifying glass i may have identified a dowel in the counterbalance mounting plate that may be the larger part and maybe the stepped spacer dowel could be from the drive end of the mounting plate for the counterbalance plate as well. I will pull the sump off when i return from work in a week so any further information would be really appreciated. The parts dealer in Brisbane couldnt help even though i sent pictures

Hello there . Hope all is well with you all. Havent had any luck with identifying the parts from the 70ci engine even though i have folloewd many leads including sending pictures to the principle suppliers of parts and to builders of many of these engines. Even took them to people personally who have built them. Cant find anything like them in the parts book so am left with the conclusion that they were put in the parts container by mistake. Engine is running fine but .....WHERE DID THEY COME FROM....... Thanks for the help Queenslander .Rang your contact and he went to a lot of trouble but still couldnt identify them.

Reminds me of when I rebuilt the carb on my second car, a 72 Valiant with the slant 6. I had some pieces left over and they weren't the extras from the kit. :beatsme Rang my brother who is a mechanic and he asked if it raneeds OK. I told him it runs great. He replied, "That's the sign of a good mechanic, they didn't need those parts to begin with!" I tell myself that every time I work on stuff. One of these days I'll take the leftovers and build something, maybe a robot! Honesty, though, what bugs me more is getting to the last three bolts and realizing you have only two..... uh-oh. :crying

Thanks for your comments fellas. Have taken the sump off and checked for the dowels in the counter balance shaft . Found they were already there and checked all parts in the sump and have come up with nothing . Sump back on and running again no problems. Must be parts from something else put in the parts container by mistake. Thanks for your help . Now to do the steering brakes.

Lol I call them Bonus Parts. If you exceed 1 per 100, it's time to check the manual again. Greyson

Hello again fellas thanks for all your help. Well said CavinJim.The left brake wasnt responding but the right was very good . Removed the top inspection covers and found the left brake covered with oil but the right was clean and dry . There must be a seal leaking. Purchased 40 litres of kerosene at $4 a litre put the bung in the left side and poured the kero in checking under for a leak. on the left side . Found all the kero had leaked out the right side as i hadnt put a bung in it .Foolish and costly mistake. After fitting a bung to the right side i mixed a 40 litre brew of 3 parts diesel and 1 part petrol and put that in drove it around for about 30 mins and the left brake started to work but still not as good as the right side. At least it is working but will probably have to do it again. Does anyone know how effective this is and how long it will last. I couldnt take the rear inspection covers off as the winch bolts on over them but will probably have to if i have to remove the brake bands. Will keep you informed of my progress.
