Looking for some advice on 2013 930H wheel loader. Been a trouble free loader until this issue popped up. When dumping at full height it chokes out the engine and dies. We've replaced all fuel filters, replaced fuel lines and then replaced fuel filters again. Still have the same issue. Now wondering if its a main lift cylinder issue or possibly a hydraulic pump issue? This loader had mostly sat idle for several years prior to last winter but ran great for the period of time between then and when this issue recently surfaced.
Can you clarify, at that point is it the use of the dump function or the lift function that causes the engine to lose RPM.? Post a Serial Number please, to make it easier to look up technical information.
It will die when dropping the bucket and feathering in the load. I would say the dump function is when loss of rpm hits. sn CAT930HKDHC03266 Very much appreciate your response Nige. New to the forum and have been digging into some reading tonight. Lots of good minds and info present here.
So that we don’t end up going down the wrong rabbit hole can you do a couple of tests. 1. Raise the bucket slowly until the lift cylinders are fully extended. Do not operate the tilt function. At that point try increasing the engine RPM to maximum and report the results. 2. With the bucket at maximum height and with the lift control in the hold position operate the tilt control slowly with the engine at full RPM and report the results. 3. Lower the bucket a couple of feet from full height and repeat Step 2. 4. Keep repeating Step 3 until the bucket is back on the ground.
Reporting back Nige. Thanks again for your responses. Machine doesn't seem to act up without a load and/or when it first starts to operate. After a load or two it starts acting up again. Cat man has been out a couple times and it doesn't want to act up on him in the same manner as when its been operating under normal work load. Couldn't get machine to act up yet today and too muddy of condition to work it in normal situation right now. Going to get up to temp today again and try again here shortly.
Would also like to add that the loader feels "doggy" too in general, when loading. Doesn't act up when full temp without a load on it.
Nige, Hey I got the chance to run this unit for a period of time and cannot get the problem to consistently present itself anymore. Here is a list of things we have had tested and replaced...still seems to only happen in tilt function at full height and tilt Replaced fuel filters replaced hydraulic filters cut hydraulic filters found no metal checked hydraulic pressures and all three in check. inline kickout, margin pressure and pilot pressure When checking pump pressure found the pressure would increase without giving it a command to increase. When the pressure increased the loader frame would lift up. When hydraulic lock out switch applied, the lift would stop moving. This led to a pilot control valve being replaced and problem persisted. next we went after the fuel lines and replaced them. Looked like the lines were deteriorating when removed. Had tank almost empty when we did this but didn't drain it and flush. Have since gone through two more fuel filters....Thoughts? Just need to keep trying to get crap out of system?
Drain and flush the tank fwould seem to be the obvious next move based on the recent filter plugging events.
Maybe it has some debris on bottom of tank that breaks loose after so much time and plugs the fuel partially off. Clean bottom of tank would be a good start. Simon C
