When adjusting my tracks, how much space should I have between my track and straight edge laid between the roller and front idler? I was told between 1 1/2 to 3 inches.
Not sure who told you that. Here's the procedure from the manual (sounds like you don't have one - less than $50 to download from the web) 1. Move the machine forward at least twice the length of the machine. Allow the machine to coast to a stop. Do not apply the brakes to stop the machine. 2. Add grease through the adjusting valve until the track is tight. 3. Make a mark on the track roller frame 3/8 inch behind the rear side of the idler bearing support (3). See photo. 4. Open the relief valve one turn only and allow the idler to move backwards past the mark in Step 3. Close the relief valve. 5. Add grease through the adjusting valve until the mark on the roller frame is aligned exactly with the rear edge of the idler bearing support (3). NOTE: DO NOT ATTEMPT to adjust the track if the measurement (1) is less than 3/4" before you start the adjustment procedure.
When adjusted as above should be 1-1/2 to 2" sag. Some specs. for single carrier rollers say 2" +/- 1/4". 3" is a little loose. Better to be slightly loose than too tight.
Ok, Thank you very much.
Thank you for your reply.
