Hi i have a cat 951c. im finding that my throttle wont move past the slow idle position until the loader is started then i can move it anywhere and it works fine. Does anyone know why that would happen. No linkage issues from lever to the govenor injector block it goes into. Is it normal or do i have a issue? Thanks in advance
There is a feature in the fuel injection pump governor linkage that will not allow it to move from the low idle position until a certain engine oil pressure has been reached. From the service manual - "On earlier engines, when the engine is started, the speed limiter plunger restricts the movement of the governor control linkage. When operating oil pressure is reached, the plunger in the speed limiter retracts and the governor control can be moved to the HIGH IDLE position."
Thats interesting The plunger must have been stuck open forever cause i could always move it anytime before I must of finally ran enough fuel thru it it ungummed it up or something. Thanks for the info sir
