I have a 955k track loader and it's getting hot ive done changed the thermostat and cored the radiator out and flushed the block out so what else could it be?
Try the oil coolers as cold water has to pass through them first before entering the cylinder block. tctractors
Check the water pump out?
i have found that the fan belt should be tight enough that one cannot slip it in the belt by hand. have run into this quite a few times
You say you "cored the radiator out" was it plugged with crap? If so like tctractors says might be a good idea to check the coolers to see if they are also plugged on the water side. Also did this "getting hot" come on fast one day or is it a problem that has got worse over a long period of time? Has there been a change in the way the machine is being used? Does it cool down fast if load is removed and engine run at high idle? Is transmission or hydraulic temperature going up first?
Grandpa might be onto something, I've seen a waterpump impeller spin off the shaft and really not pump water anymore. If you pull the thermostat you should get a rush of coolant moving through the radiator. Also, what's the indicator that's saying 'getting hot' it could be a bad sending unit.
In response to kshansen it was full of mud when we bought it and also the Trans isn't getting hot and it won't cool down fast at high idle also how do you check the oil cooler?
First off, how hot? by engine gauge and pushing water out of the radiator? Had a similar issue with my old Allis but not blocked internally but externally in radiator. Engine on mine leaked oil fan would pull oil and dirt into radiator. Did you pull the radiator and have a shop clean it? If pushing coolant out is cap any good, has to hold pressure to work right.
Full of mud? You mean in the outside or inside the radiator? If radiator was very dirty on the inside the tubes in the coolers could also be partially blocked. About the only way to see or clean them would be to pull the coolers and remove the end caps. If you do that take proper precautions to not let any thing get in the oil side of coolers while you are cleaning the water side.
If it won't cool down rapidly at high idle in neutral then you have a cooling system flow problem. Whether that problem is a blockage or a water pump that's not giving the correct flow rate you will have to determine.
