Where does one check the level of transmission fluid on a 955L traxcavater? I can’t seem to find a dip stick anywhere. Is there a plug to check the level?

If you can supply a machine Serial Number I can probably look it up. TBH if you don't already have an Operation & Maintenance Manual yet you could do with getting hold of one. Again the Serial Number of the machine is also key to identifying the correct manual.

Mine (85J5044 earlier than yours) has a final drive and trans fill caps. Only one of the caps has a dipstick attached and is used for both.

Should be a dipstick (arrowed) right next to the transmission oil filler. Machine level, transmission in NEUTRAL, transmission safety lock engaged, brake lock applied, engine at low idle and oil hot. Maintain oil level at FULL mark on filler cap/dipstick gauge. Don't confuse the transmission dipstick with the one for the Bevel Gear & Steering Clutch compartment (arrowed below). They are very close to one another.

For 85J10169 you need SEBU5343 for machines from 85J10129-Up. $30 to download from the Cat Pubs web site.
