97 d6r 3306 low idle set + slooooow to full rpm

what should the low idle be set on this machine when decelerator is pressed it drops to 700rpm I would think it should be around 900. should this adjustment be made at the decelerator governor control linkage or governor itself? when decelator is let of, at full rpm it takes, just shy of a five count to reach 2100 rpm. checked out the fuel air ratio control pipe all good, blew back thru diaphram, all good. seems like it just not getting any fuel,it runs smooth,no smoke, just slow like its not getting enough fuel. what should the fuel pressure read before it enters the injection pump? where is the constant purge valve located? thanks Tim

Don't know about the 6R, but the low idle spec. on the 3306 in my D6c is 650 rpm......I agree that it seems awfully low.

You adjust the low idle at the governor screw with nut near throttle Decel needs to be done in linkage likely a pedal stop, can't remember so look in that area. Also if the engine can accelerate to high idle faster with the lever then it might be something binding in the decelerator linkage. The governor has a dashpot inside that dampens the fast drop in throttle to avoid revs bouncing up and down when changing settings. The constant bleed valve is an orifice in the housing were the small fuel return line comes out, there is an orifice symbol cast into the housing. Later Bob
