CAN-Bus, Seems a friend of mine at a Different Trucking Company had a Turn Signal Issue on a 2025 Pete (Uncertain of Model) Road Tractor. The Company had needed some OLDER well Abused Trailers moved during a reconfiguring of a series of Yard Spaces and this TS issue began. Went to Dealer as the "Techs" where he works could neot ever get a Fixed Code off the Controls systems, had Brake Lamp Circuit, ABS, TS and a few off other repetitive codes but none really set and yet the TS with at times ABS and Brake Lamps were inop. When all came to a head had to have a Dealer "Tech" with some odd gear strictly from Manufacturer to test the truck against the last trailers pulled, Three Modules failed due to a Short in a 1970s Lowboy that was NOT ABS equipped and had some Intermittent Shorts they had to fix. $5400.00 in Dealer Charges to Locate the problem child then replace the Modules. Is this something Odd or more normal these days. My Buddy stated has happened MORE than once at his Yard Shop. Is CAN-Bus a benefit or a BANE as to these type concerns? Are there Not Circuit Fuseable protection for this stuff to prevent this?
I guess that 1970 trailer is good for something. Good to prove to management that time to retire as only about 55 years old. It almost matched the repair bill. Good to know. Simon C
The question has been answered.
You would think it would be fuse protected some way but new tech stuff is a deal not always a good deal. There are several what ifs even with newer trailers.
