Equipment - 1999 D39P-1 My Kubota tractor has a float position for the bucket which really comes in handy when backblading my road in reverse - it will maintain so many pounds of down pressure. I was wondering about the blade on the Komatsu - will it stay in the same position relative to distance off the ground irregardless of the dozer position (float), or is this strictly operator controlled? Thanks for the help (I hope I've given the veteran operators a good laugh again :drinkup!) John
john, when it doubt ask, its safer than learning the other way... You should be able to push the blade controll all the way foreward and it will lock in a detent, wich lets it float up and down, you will still have to controll the tilt and angle though.
Many thanks - that's how my Kubota goes into float - bucket control all the way up. Will the float on most dozers maintain a certain position off the ground, or is it only float in contact with the ground (and you are backblading?)
Float just means that there is no hydraulic pressure applied in either direction, so the weight of the blade is the only down pressure. Its just like if you were to un pin the cylinder.
