well i got switched from illinois back to the job i was on in ny last year, its been boring as hell cause we are doing change order work and its alot of hand work....been here for about a month only got a couple pics so far theres nothing really exciting going worth taking a picture of but as of june 22 we have the go ahead to start work in the river so i should have a bunch then heres the pics from here last year
What kind of job will you be doing in the river, jimmyjack?
well this year its cleaning the old river bottom, taking a foot of materail out then putting a foot back...i think i remember hearing the army corp came in in the 70s and moved the river over away from the property some ...and were the river is now we'll be digging in next year cleaning the bottom of that, i think its like a 3000 foot run, then putting a slurry wall along the bank
so i got a couple pics worth posting. we got a brushhog for the skid today, so i went out and cleared along a 800ft length of chainlink fence that we need to remove and replace
some pics from this week
last couple
What were you digging out?
Is this the rechannel work in Wellsville,NY you started last year? I live about 30 miles east of there. Since I quit farming have not had much need to head that way recently. I read they are trying to increase the volume the river can pass through the town and improve the fish habitat.
yea this the project i was on last year, but no its not what your talking about . its on the old sinclair refinery property and its cleaning the ground water and the river work is removing the soil along the genesse river along the property ..... heres a pics of the ground water ....they ran a trench 3300ft along the river on the first phase of the project thats around 30 ft down that catches the ground water before it get in the river.....its mostly iron which is naturally in the soil here but u can see the oils floating , the iron is supposed to settle in this pond then the oils get seperated in the rest of the system and then clean water is discharged to the river
some pics from the last few days .......more of the "bio filter"
and just a couple from digging the electric trench...
some pics of us finishing up the bio-filter,there from two weeks ago ,last week we had off and when i went home i forgot my cord to my phone in my room in ny so better late then never:Banghead...those are it for the time and material work, now for the real work should have some pics of the yellow iron by the end of the week:drinkup
and a couple more
all done....
well more mowing ,getting things looking good before we dig we have to dig a sump to catch the cleaned water from the ponds so were not dealing with all the water....the pumping begins this week coming up,the water from the sump will get pump over the dike to the river and the water in the swale will go to the holding tanks the get pumped into the system of ponds to be cleaned
some pics of the equipment , got a 330D , the same 950H from last year and two 730 off road trucks doing some neating up of the stockpile area ,getting it ready for the materail from the swale... the contractor before left the area looking like a bomb went off
some pics of whats been going on......a couple of us closing off the swale ,some of me in the skid starting to make the cut ....
now for the cut...
last few...
Thanks for all the pictures
a couple from last week...got a new D6K LGP dozer now too...and more water:Banghead:Banghead
well some new pics, kinda not exciting ....all im doing is working the stockpile, couple of me grading the pile a little when the materail was pretty dry...then it got really wet and turned the pile to slop and i couldnt move around and on the pile with the 950 anymore , so we sent it back and switched it for a 963c
last couple from this batch
oops
that is some nice equipment what are you doing with all that mud
all the cat equipment are rentals from milton cat, all of them are pretty low hr stuff......and for the mud its getting stockpiled which mud doesnt like to pile up:Banghead to dry up till next year when we will open up the sealed on-site landfill and it will go in there....at least thats the plan
some more not interesting pics of playing in my stockpile with the 963.....
and a few from the other end of the job, where all the work is:beatsme
It has been a wet summer to be working along the river. You are doing good to be able to handle that mud as well as you have. Looks more like it is out of a manure lagoon than a river. I even have ruts to fix in my hay fields if it ever dries out. Neighbor asked me yesterday about fixing some ruts up for him in fields he has been haying for over 20 years.
yea when we got here in june it was nice and dry....the whole month of august when we were digging in the swale its rained at least once a week, and every time it rains hard the river comes up so in turn the ground water in the shwale goes up:Banghead
heres some from over the last couple weeks.....got all the digging done, now for the backfilling....
and some more of the back filling the bank digs
couple of reshaping the berm at the end of the dig and putting the out flow pipes in it(which it will stay like this till the end of next season then we'll remove it)......then theres a couple of the skids working the stockpile which we were able to bridge the slopwith some dry dirt after its now been 3 weeks , but i did find a soft spot with one of them:Banghead....we got a JD270 for a week to help in the stockpile cause we are gonna add another 3000yds to it..
last one of the equipment lined up for the weekend
well heres the last few from this one ,all done for this year, be back on this project come april.....next stop down south for the winter just not sure which project yet .....greenville sc or tarpin springs fl...
