backhoe starts but will not run

CAt 416E starts instantly, goes dead instantly

    Check power to fuel shut off solenoid. When you turn the key to start does it power on ? When you let go of key does it lose power?

    Sometimes the ignition switch can go bad, internally. Particularly when a big ring of keys is hangin from it, the weight of the keys wears 'em out. Could be other things, too, so check with volt meter, at key switch and solenoid...

    Yup.. find the injection pump.. then find the shut off solenoid & check voltage at the solenoid. Could be the key switch or could be the sol... there are different types/styles of solenoids. 1 wire, 2 wire, 3 wire.. Lets hopes its not a 3 wire.. if it is, theres LOTS of "hidden" relays it has to go thru.
