Hi I have a jd 490E excavator It has a 24 volt system batteries not charging Did some trouble shooting and discovered that the alternator was not giving charge voltage The field excitation was missing Checked the wiring and found the resistor to the field terminal on the alternator open this would explain no excitation on the alternator Checked the rest of the wiring and everything seems ok The alternator resistor R1 as it's called on the schematic does not have a value does anyone have any ideas here ( Someone suggested a new thread so here goes )
