Bobcar 742 help…

cgolden9 ยท 2016-05-26 22:17

Is anyone on here knowledgable about older Bobcat 742's? The bobcat ran out of gas and after putting 5 gallons in it just turns over but won't crank. I took the inline fuel filter out and turned the key and no fuel came out of the lines. i don't know much about these gas engine machines so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Turns over and cranks mean the same thing. Sounds like the fuel pump isn't working.

Good 1 Dave.. I was actually gonna say that.. Golden, if no fuel came out of the filter.. keep going back.. you'll find it.. Pull the line going INTO the fuel pump and see if you have fuel THERE.. IF SO.. Dave is correct.. IF NOT>> you might have a blockage IN THE TANK.. not allowing fuel to get out.. IF you ran outta gas, it might have sucked down abunch of trash..

First thing I would try is to blow some low pressure compressed air down the line and listen to hear it bubbling, if you don't hear it you have a blockage or not enough fuel. Once you can hear it bubbling in the tank, some times a rag and a blow gun stuffed in to the filler tube will force fuel up to the pump where a second person can quickly slip the line on before it all leaks back.
