Hey guys i have a bobcat 863 and for some odd reason the other day after a long night plowing i went to pick up mymachine and it would not start the machine was powering up the comp light in cab were all green and ready to go but when you turn the key nothing would happen, i opend the back door and started wiggiling wires and all of a sudden it started to crank.... it seemed to start cranking after i wiggled the wire harness next to the alternator.. but the machine keeps doing the same thing i cant find and cuts or breaks in the harness anywere.. was wondering if anyone has had this problem or if anyone knows what is around the alternator that would make the ignition not crank... Thanks for any and all help in advance!!
I'd take the wires off and clean them up, even if they look clean, take them off at the connections and wire brush everything really well. Sounds like just a bad connection. It may not be a problem at the alt but those wires could be hooked to another part of the harness and are wiggling just enough to make contact.
I have cleaned, greased and reconnected everything that hangs out the back of the motor.. The other thing is my windsheild wiper stop'd working on me the same time and my blower motor seems to kick on and off on ocassion Idk if its all linked to the same problem or if the poor thing just didnt like staying up all night working?!
also check and clean all your grounds from the battery to engine block and frame. :drinkup
haha! sounds like its telling you "no more night shift!" . Sounds like a low voltage problem. Start at your battery and check the voltage there. Use the frame for a ground then the negative post at the battery. If you have low volts while using the frame as aground for your test meter then you have a ground problem.
