Bobcat 863C Starter not engaging

hedwards863 ยท 2019-07-05 13:46

Good afternoon. We put a new starter on and didn't engage. We then switched the starter and ignition relay and it worked on Wednesday. We got a new relay to replace the starter relay and nothing. We switched all the relays back to the old ones and still nothing. We do hear them clicking. Please any suggestions?

When you say "engage" does that mean it's doing nothing at all or it's turning but not engaging the flywheel? The relay clicking is only half the battle, you need to make sure it's actually sending power to the starter. Also double check the fuses and triple check the battery cables and grounds. If your starter has two small wires and one big wire you can jump power from the big cable to the small post closest to the engine. If it only has one small wire just jump power to it and see if it will start. Since the relay is clicking your ignition switch is working. Most likely bad connection at the relay connections or loose battery cables.

We just got it to start. We ended up messing with wires on the alternator . Now the lift arms and tilt won't move. We are checking safety switches. Any suggestions?

Do you have the bics controller on that machine, it's the box on the right side of the seat with 5 lights on it, one for power and four for safetys, of so what light are on or off when you push the button?
