Little back story. Went on a service call last we because the customer ran the machine out of fuel and also drained the battery. I got there and replaced the fuel filter and noticed some sludge in the housing cleaned all that out. Also changed the battery. So after doing that i primed the fuel lines. Cranked on it for awhile and it wouldnt fire. Had the customer crank it while i opened the lines at the injectors and could not get any fuel out of them, not even a dribble. While i was letting it sit for a minute i was talking to the customer and he told me that last time they started it it idled up to about 2000 rpms on its own and then died. I checked the fuel solenoid on top of the injection pump and it is opening up. It has a perkins 4cyl Diesel. My boss thinks its the injection pump but i am not sure. Any ideas? This will be the second injection pump in 200 hrs.
Have you verified that lift pump is actually delivering fuel to injection pump?
Yes the pump is pumping fuel. It has an electric pump that goes into a line that is only about 8 inches long directly into the injection pump
Copy that. Haven't worked on a V518 so I know nothing about that engine, not much help from my end. :beatsme
v518 I had a problem with mine. tried to fix everything we could think of, ended up being the computer control module. changed that and it works great. doubt that will help with your engine issues, but keep it in mind for the future problems. I've also had the air conditioner turned on and the machine did all sorts of odd things. ran horribly, surged, stalled, etc... turned off the air conditioner and it's fine. V518, 2005, 2100hrs approx.
Anyone have electrical drawings for the V518 they can pass on.. Got problem with fork tilt.. Bobcat replaced controller and it worked for a couple of days.. now no workie.
