bucket lubrication question 305.5E2

subdural ยท 2025-02-10 05:04

SN plate:cat3055ETWE204661 2018 is year. I am looking at this replaced bucket and can not understand if there are Zerk fittings missing or the grease points are not what i would expect.

your last picture -- there's supposed to be a zirc threaded into that tapped hole. It's got a bore running the length of the pin and has outlets at both of the bushings. Or at least that's how it is on my deere. presumably this is nearly the same as it looks the same on the outside.

The illustrations below show where the grease fittings are supposed to be on the linkage of your particular machine Serial Number. This is of course in addition to the fitting on the end of the bucket cylinder rod that is not shown.

thank you, gonna pull that part out and inspect for the holes!

You would be wise to fix those keeper bolts before the nut backs off and it falls out and that pin backs out without you noticing and it bends your cylinder rod and who knows what else.

Bolt with hard washers on each end and a Nylock nut or Stover nut will be worth doing. Cheaper than pin falling out. Simon C

on the black painted part - is that pin partly out on purpose by your doing, or is that how it came from the 'repair' shop?

hard washer and nylock nut - as above, ill make those upgrades too.

from repair shop, but im gonna pull all the pins, the image above shows where i need to have zerks. if the pins are not the correct ones, ill get replacements that make it look original. i just dont know yet gonna pull the pins today. ty for all the help.

It looks like some of the side bushings were replaced and not welded the greatest. On the cylinder rod on the bucket it looks like the bushings/spacers on either side of the rod eye are loose. I've only seen them welded. The best way would be to have them go through the bucket ears and welded. Would take the load on a much wider surface. The main pin on the boom does look to be sticking out or maybe too long? Seems like that could let dirt get in easier.

Dirt getting in the pins is going to be the least of this guy's worries on this particular machine.

It's just something else to be aware of that's obvious. Keeper bolts look too small as well as being loose too.

Once again, all these things are going to be secondary to all the other problems. By the looks of that paint job, it has Rust-Oleum Re-man shot all over it.

I can only see what's shown. No way to tell what shape the rest of it is in.
