JBGASH ยท 2013-12-21 22:15

Looking at a different lowboy tractor that has a Cat C-12 engine with 466,00 0 miles can anyone tell me about how the C-12 engine will hold up. Thanks

Valve adjustment is key to longevity with the C12. If maintenance records don't show adjustments at perscribed intervals you will probably be doing valvetrain work in the near future.

If your going to haul over 80k you wont want it. Dad5 knows it. When they have had enough they dont lay down. Usually parts end up mixed together in the pan or out the side.

Around here all the heavy haul guys have c15 , c16 , cummins isx 15, 500 hp min. They like 600 , 750, 800 plus, marine spec cams and computers, turbos, big radiators and air charge coolers. Big hoods and led lights. Fun to watch.

Ive hauled heavy with a 237 maxidyne and the old timers did it with a 500 cube gas job. Lots of and the right gears will be your best friend. The c12 will do the job its just that theres better ways of doing it.

C-12 is a throw away motor, wouldn't go with anything smaller than a c-13 in a cat.
