I received this via email and thought I would pass it along in case anyone found it interesting or useful or :Banghead. The Alliance for California Business http://allianceforca.org/ has been fighting CARB (Californina Air Resources Board) in court because of the problems with the DPF filters and the truck and bus fires they are causing. Dear Alliance Members, Please join us for two very important events: 1 – April 15th from 1-3pm at the Glenn County Courthouse 821 E. South Street, Orland, California 95963. Therese will ask Judge Tweede to reconsider reinstating the lawsuit now that CARB has admitted the pm filters are dangerous. If you can show up in force, it will let the court know we all deeply care about this issue. 2 – April 22nd CARB’s Board of Director meeting will hold a public hearing on the amendment to the Truck and Bus Rule. The amendment in a nutshell admits pm filters are dangerous, but the important part is instead of issuing a recall, CARB will be amending the approval to “test and approve” new parts you can buy to place on your truck to make the filter safe. This is absolutely ridiculous! We must stop CARB from making us spend even more money on new parts for those filters. Please come to the board meeting and speak your mind. · Agenda: use this link: http://www.arb.ca.gov/board/ma/2016/ma042216.pdf · Right now Truck and Bus amendment is listed as first, but can change at anytime · To read the amendment and link to submit public comment: http://www.arb.ca.gov/regact/2016/aftermarket2016/aftermarket2016.htm · Staff report will not be released before the meeting, of course not! Location: April 22 from 9am to 5pm and it is being webcasted in case you can pull over and listen in. Use this link to listen in or call in with your comment: http://www.arb.ca.gov/board/ma/2016/ma042216.pdf Byron Sher Auditorium 2nd Floor, 1001 I St. Sacramento, CA 95812 This is the time to make your voice heard. Please please share with your network and join us for these very important events. It’s now or never! Thanks, Angela for the Alliance for CA Business http://allianceforca.org/

The old engines are certainly dirty and smokey out in the fields. But I think it would have been better to require a simple upgraded engine, not necessarily a whole new tier.
