case 580b LL

I just got an 80's model case 580b tractor with a box scraper and hyd activated ripper. I have a 3 point backhoe for it. My question is can I plug the hyd hoses into the quick disconnect hoses where the ripper was hooked in and open the valve to use? And is it ok to operate the tractor without any hoses pluged in or do I need a bypass hose pluged in? Thanks fo the help Ron
