Case 580D Fuel injection hard line replacement

justplainred · 2023-04-20 16:50

While replacing injectors and seals I noticed the hard line to #1 injector was damaged and leaking. I was able to find the early banjo type replacement but nothing for the later version with regular nut ends. Part number is A153634 and no OE or aftermarket replacement is listed for sale. Is there a universal line kit that I can bend myself or some other solution to get my rig back in action?

Welcome to HEF @justplainred If you have a diesel fuel injection shop nearby, take the fuel line to them & they should be able to make you a new one. The fuel line is heavy wall & there is a special flaring tool required to create the sealing surfaces on the ends of the tube.

The few shops around me only want to deal with trucks and give me a blank stare when I tell them its for a stanadyne pump on a case tractor. Are all the flares standard or different depending on make? Can a universal line like this work or are the flares incorrect? All the lines on the engine are the same length and have the same thickness tubing. The ends are silver soldered on I believe. There could be different flares between fuel system manufacturers. You might be able to get one from an equipment wrecking yard.

Where on the line is the damage ? Is it simply a hole in it from rubbing against something ? They can sometimes be repaired. A picture would help. Wenger's Equipment is parting out a 580D. LINK To Wenger's

Damage is to the flare itself. Looks like it was leaking bad for a while and the PO just kept cranking down on it. Would solder be a repair option on this?

No solder or you may have crap in the injector. It looks like it was loose for awhile by the looks of the grooves on the sealing surface.

where do you suggest I order from? Seems all the old equipment salvage and parts places cashed out and only listing online with part number always comes back to some wholesale chinese parts place. A153634 is the part number for Case injector line for #1 cylinder

I think any decent machine shop could remove your damaged fitting and make a new one on a lathe. It is probably brazed on the line. The internet has hundreds of shops that specialize in making custom injector lines. Call Dale Wiess, he may have one. LINK TO DALE
