I have heard that the the 580K had a weak transaxle in one of the series. Can anyone tell me if it was seriesI or seriesIII. Any input on this topic would be greatly appreciated. I have found a 1989 580K that I might buy and I think it is a seriesI and was wondering if this model was a dependable machine.
I've heard they both had problems. I would prefer the older unit, same rear-end as the 580SE, but a quality issue with the sidegears. Still much cheaper, and simpler to fix than the later one. Both don't like roading a lot, so try it out in all gears and listen for excessive gear noise, before you buy.
