Case cx55b thumb not responding

Hey guys problems with my new used case excavator. Was going to be performing the 1000 hr maintenance. Took her down to the barn to get her all cleaned up. Finished cleaning her up went to move her into shop. Opened thumb all the way went to curl the bucket in and thumb started closing tried to push button back to open didn’t respond. Thumb closed all the way and just kept running the lines under the floor started shaking I shut machine off. Looked around for leaks or broken lines. Saw nothing unusual started it back up lines not shaking anymore but thumb is non responsive. I have 12v going to button on handle but no voltage going to hydraulic solenoid. Checked resistance of both solenoid one was 13ohm the other was .2 ohm. Apparently you can’t buy just the switch u have to buy the whole grip. Is there anyway I could trouble shoot this anymore before buying grip? The wires come off thumb switch and go to a small magic box in the handle. Can’t find any info on magic box and what it does. Thanks

Good day I am interpreting from your post that you have proportional control by a scroll switch on top of the handle. If that is the case, the voltage at the solenoid may well be 5 volts. That black box could be a processor, post some photos of the handle & box & a electric schematic to help some more. Kind regards Uffex

Thanks Uffex for the response. I believe u are right about the switch being variable and magic box doing magic box stuff. You pay a lot for the magicDo u think I could run standard two position switch with my thumb attachment Just open and close? There is cheap handles with switches on internet. Always looking for cheaper solution

I could limit responsiveness By cycling switch off and on would this be to hard on solenoid valves? And machine?

Sometimes I’m too tight for my own good. Ha ha

If it is just the switch you could try this outfit [email protected] . I suggest it may be better to check the signal out to the proprtional valves establish the cause first. Some processors have a light emmiting diode at the box to check out the signal. Kind regards Uffex

thanks for responding. I checked continuity from switch to proportional valves. Wiring checks out good. No led at box. Looking like I’m going to jump out on a limb and order grip with switch.
