I have a Case 580K backhoe loader. There is one number obliterated on the model number tag just below the cab, on the left side. Turns out, this is the most important digit in the entire number. Is there any other way to accurately identify this machine, or is there any other place on the machine that has the number on it?
You can take the cab/rops number, engine ser number, trans ser number and call your dealer. The dealer will contact case and if all the correct numbers match they can give you the correct serial number. The K's in the us had a phase 1 and phase 3, phase 1 had a oil check plug for the rear end dipstick in front of the seat and a 4 speed shifter in the floor to the rt hand side. Phase 3 had a dipstick plug behind the seat and a shifter on the dash rt hand side. The s/n before jjg0020000 used a trans/rear end like the E series with a F/R shuttle on the converter housing. After the jjg0020000 they used a trans/rear/f and r built into one unit. The euro units may be different
Thank you. That is good information. Mine is a JJG00X2931, with the x being the missing number. Hence my problem with the before/after JJG0020000. I do have the dipstick behind the seat (near the backhoe controls), and my trans shifter is on the dash. You lost me a little on the rest of it. But with that info, can I now assume that I have the later, phase three version?
