http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sg2iXOzR8Pc&feature=youtube_gdata_player Recently bought this jewel. It has been sitting 15+years. Steps to get to this point: Unseized engine. Magic Kroil in each cyl Repaired starter Removed and unseized injector pump. Engine oil and filter change Removed turbo. Knurled OD of loose turbo main brng (brass bushing). Repacked cooling fan brngs. Poured in $500 hyd fluid #5 head gasket leaking. You can hear it in the video. When I tested the tracks, I used the arm to lift each track clear of the ground. Right pedal only, the right track moves, but seems weak. Left pedal only, the left track doesn't move. When i push both pedals simultaneously, both tracks move with authority. I am focusing on the modulator valve for the tracks/turret valve block as the problem. Anyone seen this kind of behavior? It will drive as is. Supposed to load it and bring home in the next few days
Cool old beast, good luck with her.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrXfch-i4DY&feature=youtube_gdata_player Got it home yesterday. All 29 tons. Now the real fun begins. Slack adjusters are stuck. Fwd hyd cooler fan motor leaking. Needs lots of new hoses. Deutz #5 cyl head gasket leaking. Wiring is a mess. Ran temp wiring for the recovery.
My friend has an '86 125B and had a problem with the hydraulics overheating after only a few minutes of operating and the hydraulics becoming erratic. After some research he and a friend had discovered some kind of seal in one of the final drives was pinching a line or something along those lines (I can always give him a call if you want to know more). A new seal he found was ridiculously expensive so he had a new one made up at a hydraulic and machining business and since then has had few troubles other than the boom cracking by the stick pin.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dw8F5ODyHdg Update A few hoses A main pump rebuild new actuator gland seals Running fine. Doing the job. Has plenty of power for stump pulling. Usually one scoop, it's out. A thumb would be nice
