Case wheel loaders

Some of my favorite machines are Case's B series of wheel loaders (621B, 721B, 821B, 921B). I was on eBay looking at some old manuals of the 621B and the thought hit me: was there ever an A series of Case wheel loaders? I know that the wheel loaders prior to the B series were the W series wheel loaders (the weird ones with the cab on the front articulating structure). But was there anything in between these two series, like an A series?

They are actually 21 series loaders not b series. The first of the series were straight numbers only - 621 ; 721 ; etc they have progressed to B;C;D; & now E :drinkup

Ahh thank you, that explains it. Now to google to find some pics of these elusive 621s and 721s! :drinkup

We have 3 of the A model 621's and 2 of the 621b's, the oldest of the 621's is designated 621zf, the start of the zf trans in the case loaders. For us the early 621's have been a better machine, the b's are very good but the A's had no trans computer just micro switch's in the shift controller. Also one of the most expensive brake job's that I've seen is to a b model case.

Cool! Its always good to hear a little story in addition, gives me a better overall understanding of how the two different series. Some of the guys at work have said in the past that our 621B's main weakness is its transmission, so that would agree with what you just said about them. Thanks again for the help, Logan
