CAT 246 C Driver warning Alert Slow Crawl> Machine has 500 hours.S/N: CAT0246CCJAY03988 After traveling a short distance driver alert come on and machine slows to a crawl. We do not have ET and the machine does not have the operator monitor to access fault codes. Operator monitor consist of fuel gauge and warning lights. Can one retrieve fault codes with any type of key switch diagnostics? Any helpful suggestion on troubleshooting this issue will be appreciated. mic
You will have to have et to access the codes. Sounds like a speed sensor. Might be able to pull them with out unplugging them and make sure they don't have shavings on the tips.
Thank you for the suggestion. We have another 246 that we swapped the speed sensors from..still same issue. No shavings on them. Any more suggestions?
I do not know this machine, but other machines I have encounted that had travel motor speed sensors have resistors in the signal wire to control module. These resistors absorb reflections on the pulse signal from the speed sensor(s). Also check the continuity for speed sensor to the control module. Usually there are three wires, ground , reference voltage and signal wire. Failure in this circuit results in drive motors in "slow crawl".
