CAT0259BLYYZ01918 can someone post the overview of the fuel system on this unit? Is electric fuel pump powered up only at start up? and is there only the fuel filter at the electric pump on these units?
The priming procedure for the fuel filter is - Momentarily turn the engine start switch to the START position and then return the engine start switch to the ON position. Note: Do not start the engine. This operation only starts the fuel pump. Leave the engine start switch in the ON position for thirty seconds, then turn the key to the START position and start the engine. Once the engine is running the fuel pump will run continuously. Theoretically it is the only one but these machines often suffer from poor refuelling practices that can introduce water/sediment into the tank which then gets sucked through. It's not unusual for someone to install an online filter somewhere. If you happen to find one and go to replace it be sure to use a replacement that is rated for diesel not gasoline. From the experience of others on the forum a NAPA 3972 is one that works well in this application. See attachment.
