I have a 2008 Cat 287c. It has no heat coming from the vents. Had a couple more issues so i took it to Cat and they said the electric water valve for the heater core is stuck closed. How big of job is that to replace. Any after market parts that will work.
A machine Serial Number would help confirm the numbers below. I'm assuming it is MASxxxxx. The electric water valve is a known problem area. The Part Number has changed 3 times, the latest being 634-8427. Other numbers are 328-3317 & 480-8589. Aftermarket parts are available but flip a coin regarding their quality, and because replacing the water valve is a pain you don't want to do it more than once.
Serial Number confirmed. Any of the Part Numbers above are good for your machine, obviously the latest 634-8427 number is the most up-to-date. Getting at the valve is a total PITA.
