Is there a question here or is this strictly informational? It's not a big secret that cheap chinesium parts don't fit or perform like OEM. Cheap parts are always a gamble, and you have to weigh the balance of cost vs value.

yes i spent a year trying to get one. could not. not even the part to fix the old one i was hopping some one had come across this problem i was thinking of putting 1/4" aluminon between the engine and the pump pushing the intake tube away from the frame

Could a rear engine mount be shimmed 1/8 inch to maybe give more clearance. Might not be doable because of other problems. Simon C

i was hopping to move it a 1/4"other options grind away 1/4" from the frame remake inlet tube ,i was hopping someone had had this problem

Could the existing mounts be sagged a bit and further causing clearance issues. Simon C

I definitely would not be grinding on the frame. I'm assuming the pump you pulled off had ample clearance which would tell me your mounts are probably ok? Maybe you could cut/twist/reweld the suction tube if there's a hose on the other end before it hits the tank? Maybe you could build a tube from scratch?

    Shim the engine mounts

Should work just fine. A 1/4" spacer between flex mount #6 and bracket #5 is all it would take.

so this is the original pump and the new one so there is 1/2 " difference between the inlet tube and the face so i need to add a 1/2 "problem will the gear engage

What is the Serial Number of your machine.?

  13. #13Nige2026-07-17 16:01

With so much difference in the physical size of the two pumps you are going to be in for at least some fabrication to connect the pump lines.

AFW1-UP I am going to make a 1/2 inch plate to go on the front of the pump

That's strange. The Part Number of the OEM piston & gear pump is 163-9762. A quick Google search showed up at least three aftermarket suppliers offering complete pumps, such as these.......... Hydraulic Main Pump 163-9762 for Caterpillar CAT Excavator 303.5 Hydraulic Main Pump converts mechanical power into hydraulic energy, operating Engine,Excavator. Discover our catalog today. www.fridayparts.com https://www.yearnparts.com/hydraulic-main-pump-163-9762-for-caterpillar-cat-303-5-excavator.html?srsltid=AfmBOorvP60ybiA78a3XU3bjya1GySvSwICaruu1W6xCxkjpQpn4TuUt I also see listings on Avspare, 777Parts, & FridayParts for the same Part Number of pump. Out of interest how much did you pay for the non-standard pump.?

Most of the internals including the rotating group looks to be serviceable.

This pump is specifically for the Cat 303.5; there is no mistake about it. The old part shown in Image 3 is missing the rear pump section, but I have a photo of your old part that includes the rear pump. Therefore, it is impossible to have such a large difference in effective height.

the first one from Korea was $ 3500 which didn't fit i sent it back then i got one from China $1500 that's the one i am trying to custom

According to the links I posted above an aftermarket equivalent to the OEM pump (that looks identical to it) is around $1900.

it a bit like trying to tell people the world is round when they are convinced its flat this is the second pump i have tried with the same result. unless my 303.5 is different than ALL THE REST which seems unlikely as you can see from the first photo the intake is touching the frame that will not work . i am making a spacer lets see what that dose
