Cat 320d2 or sumitomo sh210-5/6

ser.kanchana · 2016-04-24 18:31

Hi, I am planning to buy a 20 ton excavator very sooner. But confused which one to be purchased. I already have 320B (1XS series) machine and had very bad experience with engine/hydraulic system etc. But Here (Sri Lanka) the CAT dealer (UTE) helped us a lot even personally & now runs greater than before. As my research, Komatsu & Kobelco starts troubling after 6000 hrs & recently Sumitomo also has a good market but no any time to reviewed, but as a Japanese manufacturing machine operators say runs greater than Komatsu & Kobelco. From recently CAT 320D2 also getting popular. But the owners of 320D series had some problems related power train with fuel consumption . Mu question based on following. 1). Rumours says SH210-(5 or 6) ISUZU engine not as reliable one? 2). 320D2 is rougher than SH210? 3). Second market value? 4). Dealer service?(here Sumitomo dealer services also could be satisfied)? 5). Price difference nearly SLR2,000,000 (14000USD). CAT is the higher? 6).Fuel consumption? Plz advice me which one is suitable for quarry, road construction works also? Thanx best regards..

Have look to see if you can find a Hitachi ZX200-5 (year 2010 onwards with factory ROPS cab), if you cannot find a Hitachi, have the Cat dealer's best excavator mechanic evaluate the 320D excavator and make an assessment based on his report. Make sure the Cat is properly adapted to tropical conditions with its cooling system.

Thanx dear Plebian, But in Sri Lanka, everyone knows Hitachi 200 as very reliable machine. But because of previous Landy model & due to the service dealership (agent) have some problems.. If you have further practical experience with ZX200 , plz let us inform all.. Cuz from right now I'm seeking for Hitachi.. Thanx again...

Dear Plebian, Today I went to a site of constructing reservoir & side wall in Sri Lanka and there were some 3 no's of ZX200-5G excavators all clocks around 3000hrs to 5500 hrs. The amazing thing is the fuel ⛽ consumption of those machines is15.5~17.0 litres per hour (Without any fuel fraud). Normally here diesel price is 0.65 usd & 20 ton excavator's hourly payment is 24 usd per hour. But my 320B (Serial No.1XS-00560 with 3116 engine)actually consumes 10 litres' per hour. But Similar Machines average is 10~12.5 litres' per hour. This is the real issue and image... Thanx..

It is well known that the emission equipment in many cases increases fuel consumption. Fuel usage is usually quoted for light, medium and heavy applications. http://www.hawthornecat.com/sites/d..._Owning_Operating_Costs_CPH_v1.1_03.13.14.pdf (Cat costings guide 320D2 - heavy work - 18.6 - 26.5 litres per hour) HEX d2 edition 44 25-16. 320D2 is quoted by cat as 15 percent more fuel efficient than the previous model. I see there have been issues where you are with the use of bio-diesel. Some earthmovers in NZ have used cooking oil from restuarants and refined it to use in their machines to lower fuel costs. Hitachi does have a 200 hybrid model that uses 15 percent less fuel than the non-hybrid model but the hybrid excavator is more expensive. Caterpillar does have dual fuel engines.(natural gas, diesel) Your area has natural gas, but you might need a gas tanker truck to refuel the excavator frequently. http://www.omnitekcorp.com/altfuel.htm http://www.afdc.energy.gov/fuels/fuel_comparison_chart.pdf

[ Dear sir, considering you advice and market research we bought Hitachi Zaxis 230 , on 30.11.2016 with 10,000 hours for lower price tag (50,000 usd). Now it just passing 16500H and running strongly... Had some track role and bushes replacement, travel motor spiral gear pin replacement and cylinder reseal only.. Use for soil works and truely consumes 11.5~12.5 fuel liters per hour... Feel happy .. Thanks ...

You can reduce the fuel consumption and slightly increase the hp with a diesel catalytic converter. It will prolong engine life and decrease your maintenance cost

U can’t go wrong w Komatsu. Best made imho. Hitachi good units as well. My experience is the pumps are the weak link in them. Or can be I should say.
