  2. #2ben46a2008-11-07 00:20

    I think thats a 365 in disguise.....

  3. #3Sparffo2008-11-07 04:57

I have heard that in this part of europe it's quite common to change stickers on machines! some put bigger stickers on a smaller machine, to get a better hourly rate from goverment jobs... they pay more for a bigger machine, or at least they think the machine is bigger... while others put smaller stickers on bigger machines, to cheat with transportation:drinkup In any case, that is one nice CAT!

  4. #4JimBruce422008-11-07 05:05

Neat paint job! Looks like a 345c to me

Those are some awesome paint schemes!

  8. #8Vantage_TeS2008-11-08 00:08

That red and black is hot looking. Not to nitpick (much) but why does everyone insist on driving the bucket linkage in the ground? Having to dig out the grease nipples every day with a screwdriver is a pain in the butt.

  9. #9humboldt deere2008-11-08 00:37

I agree, the other day I did this and the next morning raised the boom to find a big scar in the ground and dirt shoved into every crevice on the linkage.

true no it happens here in the uk ,i know of some local hire co,s that have done this

  11. #11ermineerwhatbuc2008-11-08 18:39

he might have something there notice the three top rollers instead of two 345cl has 2 365cl has 3 Maybe different options on undercarriage?

  12. #12Vantage_TeS2008-11-08 18:53

The exact same model 345 as in the picture (w/ standard paint) http://217.13.15.107/cuteeditor/kundearkiv/9025/mine_filer/cat345.JPG Three rollers. I like this style UC way better than the old "330" style slanted UC (two roller). Takes forever to try and clean muck out of the old style cause you can't get your shovel in there! The slanted two roller is the "fixed gauge UC" for narrow transport and pressure sensitive areas. The three roller is "variable gauge UC" for increased track and ground clearance and over-side lift. Not sure if you knew this but the three roller designs you see you can unbolt the roller frame from the car body and slide it in and out, there are several bolt hole drilled and tapped so you can vary the width (narrow working area, transport etc).

Vantage is exactly right, it is a 345 with the variable gauge track frame, and they are a lot easier to shovel out at the end of the day. Just push the mud or dirt through. :notworthy We have both options on our 345's at work. All our mass excavators and two or three of our pipe hoe's have the variable gauge 3 carry rollers, while the rest/most of our pipe hoe's have two carry roller standard gauge. The newest 345's have a third option, the "ES or extreme service" undercarriage. It IS a 365 track frame, used for really heavy duty work, like quarry or demo I guess.:beatsme

is very sad to think that people will go to these lengths to make money or same effort ointhead

  15. #15Young James2008-11-09 16:29

that could easily bite them in the arse if there was ever an accident and it got investigated

  16. #16AtlasRob2008-11-09 17:20

I thought how the different colour made it look bigger, never thought anybody would want a machine downsized. Known companies take the labels off to put it out as a size bigger. A Komatsu PC180-3 I operated went out regularly as a 210 :beatsme

Changing stickers on machines is pretty common. Many a D9L has gone into the shop for a rebuild and come back as a D10L. Same with N series, D9 and D10 dozers. The hourly rates (from highway departments particularly) are higher for larger sized dozers, causing many contractors to upsize their machines for the increased T&M rates. I'm not familiar with it on excavators, though I've heard of it being done on them, and other types of equipment.

Holy crap i forgot i replied in this. That flat surfaced counterwieght screams 365, thats why i mentioned it, the 345 counterweights are all radiused not flat.

  24. #24DigDug2009-04-07 18:20

That red & black cat is awesome!

  25. #25trapperbo2009-04-08 15:03

nice pics! Never seen paint schemes like that

  26. #26Sparffo2009-08-21 07:21

They should pay the machines by bucket size, not machine weight imagine a 10 ton machine with a 20 ton machine bucket

  27. #27EGS2009-08-21 11:36

That first 345 painted green sure looks like a 365 to me.

  28. #28JimBruce422009-08-21 21:15

Time to put up some photos of a 365c and show that the green one is a 345... First shot is from www.lkw-stefan.de's website, note the ladder on the right side of the 365's to get up above the engine, not on a 345. http://www.lkw-stefan.de/galerie/einsatzbilder_cat/2/PICT1061.jpg and this photo from photostp.free.fr shows that the radiador actually is larger than the general shape of the 365's body... which is a lot larger as well http://engins.terrassement.free.fr/images/DSC08093_JPG.jpg not trying to be a jerk, but these are the two things I look for most often when I'm trying to decide from photos if a machine is a 345, 365, or 385. Still great photos... and the websites I dug these photos from are also well worth the look.:thumbsup

ben46a, the european spec 345's have a more square C/W. Illustrated in these pics: #1 is a german machine #2 is a machine from California The machine in question is without a doubt a 345. Great topic, I like the blue Cats.:drinkup
